The dental school has a mandatory health insurance program for all students through the University-sponsored plan with Anthem Student Health. If you have any questions about student health insurance, please call 209.946.2027.
Students electing not to participate in this plan will have the option to opt out by providing a waiver and proof of comparable health insurance coverage. Insurance premiums are assessed with tuition and other fees.
In addition to the health insurance program, the dental school offers Pacific Health Services. Our nurse practitioner (NP) provides a full spectrum of services. The NP is available to all students, whether enrolled in the insurance program or not. Pacific Health Services is located on the 6th floor, room 615A. A health fee of $240 per year will be assessed to each student account, which waives the office visit co-payment for all students, regardless of the type of health insurance carried. Please note that medication purchases, diagnostic testing, or referrals to off-campus health care providers are not covered by this fee.

As a student at Pacific, you have a free $50,000 life insurance courtesy of the ADA. You are automatically enrolled in this policy. Life insurance can protect you during school and will be instrumental in securing your practice financing later. This ADA-sponsored group insurance, which you have the option to keep long after graduation, is one of the most valuable benefits of ASDA (American Student Dental Association) membership. If you want to opt out of the ADA Life Insurance, please come by the Office of Student Services, Room 202, and we will contact the ADA.

During the three-year program at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, all students are covered by a group long-term disability income policy. No student is exempt from participating in the disability program. The policy is convertible to an individual non-cancelable, specialty-specific disability income policy for $2,000 per month after completion of dental school.
