Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry faculty member Dr. Ove A. Peters has been selected to receive the 2012 Louis I. Grossman Award from the American Association of Endodontists (AAE). The award recognizes one author for cumulative publication of significant research studies that have made an extraordinary contribution to endodontology.
Peters, a faculty member in the Department of Endodontics, is an internationally recognized researcher and educator. He is also one of the most sought after speakers and lecturers in endodontics today.
He currently chairs the Research and Scientific Affairs Committee of the AAE. Peters also serves on the review panel and editorial boards of several prestigious endodontic journals including the Journal of Endodontics, International Endodontic Journal and Endodontic Topics.
Peters has published extensively on subjects of compelling interest in clinical endodontics and on animal research exploring the molecular mechanisms of inflammation and disease. He is author of over one hundred scientific papers and abstracts and has presented numerous lectures nationally and internationally.
"Looking at the list of previous recipients of the Grossman award is a humbling experience!" said Peters. "I can think of other colleagues who absolutely deserve to receive this award, and I am overjoyed to have been selected. It is very gratifying to get recognized for what I am passionate about: research."
Peters will be officially presented with the award at the next AAE Annual Session, which will be held in Boston in April 2012.
