The Arthur A. Dugoni School family recently gathered to honor Andrew Malimban, the 2013 recipient of the Cavanaugh Distinguished Service Award. Malimban, manager in the Department of Building Operations, was acknowledged for his dedication and work within the Dugoni School community. As this year's award recipient, Malimban received a check for $500 and an award plaque.
The Cavanaugh Distinguished Service Award is funded by University of the Pacific Vice President for Finance Patrick Cavanaugh and his wife Janita. It recognizes staff members from Pacific's Stockton, Sacramento and San Francisco campuses for exceptional accomplishments, leadership, innovation and service to the university community. Faculty and staff nominate colleagues who have contributed to the school's vision, mission and values.
According to colleagues who nominated him for the award, Malimban has a friendly, approachable demeanor and handles requests in an efficient and accommodating manner. He consistently maintains a teamwork spirit in responding to issues impacting faculty, staff and students. Fellow employees note that he shows great kindness when dealing with patients and responds with calm during emergencies.
Malimban plays an integral role in the Department of Building Operations, which has experienced increasing demands as the school prepares for its upcoming move to its new San Francisco campus. While helping to ensure that the new facilities function the way that fits the school's needs, he continues to make sure that existing operatories and other facilities are functioning in the school's current building.
