The Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry hosted its third annual Chairs and Academic Administrators Management (CAAMP) program July 21-24. Organized by the Academy for Academic Leadership, CAAMP is designed to grow and refine the leadership skills of faculty and administrators, specifically those from universities of health science and medicine.

The CAAMP event focused on developing competencies in the areas of academic management, building key relationships, and personal and professional development. Training topics included leadership development, personality analysis, budgeting and planning skills, effective team management, faculty recruitment and legal issues in higher education.

The 46 CAAMP attendees travelled from universities throughout the United States and Canada, including University of Southern California, Loma Linda University, University of Florida, Purdue University, University of Washington, University of North Carolina, University of Manitoba and University of Windsor. Several visitors from the Wenzhou Medical College in China also attended this year's event. The Dugoni School of Dentistry has had a strong international partnership with Wenzhou Medical College for many years.

"This year's CAAMP event was a great opportunity for colleagues from various universities and disciplines, to come together and develop skills as educational leaders," said Dr. Nader Nadershahi, executive associate dean and associate dean for academic affairs, who was also an instructor for the event. "At the Dugoni School of Dentistry we aim to actualize individual potential. Events such as CAAMP allow our faculty and staff administrators to continue to be effective and thoughtful leaders."
