Dental Camp Offers Middle School Students Chance to Explore Careers in Dentistry

This one-day event gives junior-high students the chance to explore a variety of career options in the field of oral health.

February  17, 2010

Each spring, seventh and eighth-grade students come to the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry for a unique experience: a one-day program known as Dental Camp. During their time at the camp, students explore various careers in dentistry and learn more about the importance of oral health.

This year, attendees will take part in various hands-on activities such as creating molds of their teeth and filling a tooth with composite. Current dental students and faculty will share information about and perspectives on dental school, and will encourage the campers to explore career possibilities as dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and dental laboratory technicians.

Hosted by the Dugoni School of Dentistry, Dental Camp is sponsored by the California Dental Association (CDA). The event is free for attendees and is one of a handful of events of its kind in California. This year, Dental Camp will take place on Saturday, Mar. 6, 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Space is limited and those interested in participating must reserve a space in advance. For more information or to receive a registration form, contact Torri Keever at 415.929.6462 or tkeever@pacific.edu.
