Twenty-one students from the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry have been inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the oldest and largest interdisciplinary honor society in the United States. The Dugoni School of Dentistry students joined nearly 100 of their Stockton and Sacramento peers at a recognition ceremony held April 30 on University of the Pacific's main campus in Stockton.
This year, the dental school was pleased to see very high representation among the newly admitted Phi Kappa Phi students, all of whom ranked in the top 10% of their respective classes. Sixteen students from the DDS Class of 2010, two students from the IDS Class of 2010 and three students from the Dental Hygiene class of 2010 were admitted.
In addition to recognizing academic achievement, Phi Kappa Phi offers opportunities to assist members throughout their academic and professional lives. Awards and scholarships, career assistance and training opportunities are among the benefits offered to active members.
"Induction into Phi Kappa Phi is a testament to the love of learning that these students have exhibited in their time at the dental school," remarked Dr. Nader Nadershahi, associate dean for Academic Affairs. "Ranking in the upper 10% of one's class is a remarkable achievement. I am very proud of our Phi Kappa Phi students."
