Thousands of dental professionals recently descended upon San Francisco for the American Dental Association (ADA) Annual Session, and members of the Dugoni School of Dentistry community had the opportunity to get involved in the event, one of the largest healthcare conferences in the country. The Annual Session was held Oct. 18-23, 2012 at the Moscone Center and offered attendees a variety of continuing education courses, exhibits, tours, award presentations and receptions.

The ADA Annual Session is held in San Francisco once every six years, and provides a convenient opportunity for Dugoni School students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends who live in the San Francisco Bay Area to attend, as well as reunite with out-of-town visitors attending the conference.

This year the Dugoni School had a strong presence at the ADA Annual Session. The school sponsored a booth in the exhibition hall; hosted continuing education courses in the dental school's anatomy lab; and offered tours of the dental school's current campus. Students volunteered and helped direct session attendees as well as assist in a health screening area for dental professionals. Additionally, numerous alumni, faculty and staff members were speakers or course room hosts during ADA activities.

The dental school also hosted a special reception on Oct. 20 at the InterContinental Hotel, which was attended by nearly 400 alumni, invited guests and friends. Reception attendees were treated to hosted drinks, food, a photobooth and a chance to reconnect with old friends and colleagues.

The InterContinental Hotel is located just blocks away from Moscone Center and right next door to the dental school's future new campus at 155 Fifth Street. Reception attendees were also offered a close-up look at the new campus and were able to see the progress of renovations currently underway.

"Our faculty, staff, students and alumni always have a great time learning and sharing information at the ADA Annual Session, and are always excited when it's held in San Francisco because we can be even more involved," said Dean Patrick J. Ferrillo, Jr. "This year was no exception - the Pacific Dugoni family was at the session in full force."
