Dr. Krystyna Konopka, professor in the Department of Microbiology at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, has been appointed to the editorial board of the Journal of Dental Research. As a board member, she will be responsible for reviewing manuscripts in her areas of expertise for the publication.
"I am extremely honored to be appointed to the editorial board of such a distinguished publication and look forward to continuing the advancement of science," said Konopka.
A Dugoni faculty member since 1991, Konopka earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical University of Lodz in Poland and her Ph.D. from the University of Lodz. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she also conducts research at the Dugoni School in areas including gene therapy for oral cancer, Candida biofilms and inflammatory responses to periodontal pathogens.
"The recognition of Dr. Konopka's achievements by the Journal of Dental Research is an outcome of the long-standing efforts of our department to bring the Dugoni School to the 'next level of excellence' in research and scholarship," said Dr. Nejat Düzgünes, professor and chair of the Department of Microbiology.
The Journal of Dental Research, published by the International and American Associations for Dental Research, is dedicated to the dissemination of new knowledge and information pertaining to all sciences relevant to dentistry and to the oral cavity and associated structures. It publishes original research and review articles in all fields of dental, oral and craniofacial sciences.
