My primary research interests are the study of the genetic-epidemiology of periodontal diseases, and the study of associations between periodontal disease and systemic conditions. I am studying the possible role of periodontal disease in the mother as a risk factor for preterm delivery and other pregnancy complications. I also study the effect of osteoporosis and estrogen use on the periodontal and dental condition. Our research group also conducts corporate-sponsored clinical trials in periodontics.
