To view job
opportunities in the field of dentistry after graduation, please take a look
at our Dental Opportunities Listings.
Tips for Students
In addition to Pacific's monthly publication Dental
Opportunities, other sources of information include:
- Component Dental Societies - most maintain their own
listings. Call your local dental society for your area of interest.
- State Dental Associations - each has a monthly journal which
contains classified advertising. In addition, many have web pages with
listings (e.g.
The
California Dental Association
).
- Dental Supply Companies - (found in the yellow pages) most
maintain lists of practices for sale or associateships.
- Practice Brokers - (found in yellow pages) are companies
licensed to sell practices.
Internships
Internships and
externships are special programs offered, usually by dental schools, to current
junior or senior dental students. They are usually of short duration, a one-week
visit to a program where the intern participates in the activities of the
residents, and available only at certain times of the year; they may be offered
by a specialty or residency programs. These programs are not offered on a
consistent basis, e.g., the internship may be offered one year but not the
next. There is a great deal of variability in these types of programs. Take
a look at the last section of the Dental
Opportunities Listings for the latest listing of intern and externships. |
