The Dean’s Cabinet has been created to assist me in gathering information, making strategic decisions, building consensus, and maintaining the greatness that is Pacific. The stated purpose of the Dean’s Cabinet is to make collaborative decisions realizing the vision of the school. The group is scheduled to meet every Monday morning at 7:30 a.m.
The current members of the Dean’s Cabinet are Kara Bell, Roy Bergstrom, Kathy Candito, Robert Christoffersen, Richard Fredekind, Eddie Hayashida, Nader Nadershahi and Craig Yarborough. Each member’s responsibility is to bring input from individuals in their area of responsibility. As issues arise that require broader expertise, other individuals will be asked to attend meetings to provide knowledge, perspective, and the views of stakeholders. Membership is subject to change but is not likely to increase in size.
It is my intent that the Dean’s Cabinet will be known as a group that is visionary, accountable, innovative, transparent, and responsive. The Cabinet will seek consensus by the members on all decisions and if consensus cannot be reached, decisions will be based on the will of the majority. As projects and issues are addressed, consideration will be given to financial implications, stakeholders and implications for stakeholders, measurable outcomes to gauge success, deadlines, and ongoing review. The school community will be kept informed of decisions, policies, and other actions of this group.
I have every confidence in the group and look forward to moving the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry to the next level of excellence.
Patrick J. Ferrillo, Jr., D.D.S.
