Ana Carolina Morandini  is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at University of the Pacific, Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry. She earned her DDS degree in 2006 from the University of São Paulo — Bauru School of Dentistry, Brasil and completed an externship program in the Department of Periodontology of the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry as a senior dental student. Dr. Morandini's research is currently focused on the study of host-pathogen interactions, innate immunity and inflammation in the oral microenvironment.

Research topics
  • How immune as well as non-professional immune cells such as gingival, periodontal ligament and dental pulp cells interact with oral intracellular pathogens such as Porphyromonas gingivalis
  • Purinergic signaling and the control of "danger signals" in oral inflammation
