The Dugoni School family gathered to honor Andrea Price, sterilization and dispensing technician, who was honored with the 2016 Cavanaugh Distinguished Service Award during a ceremony on Dec. 7. The annual award honors a staff member for service, excellence and commitment to the school.
The award is funded by former University of the Pacific Vice President for Finance Patrick Cavanaugh and his wife Janita. It recognizes staff members from the Stockton, Sacramento and San Francisco campuses for exceptional accomplishments, leadership, innovation and service to the university community. Dental school faculty and staff nominate colleagues who have contributed to the school's vision, mission and values.
Andrea has been working in the sterilization department since 2008. She was nominated by colleagues who described her as hard-working, humble, non-judgmental and willing to go the extra mile. One of her coworkers commented on the nomination form "she is unrelenting in her hard work, consistently reliable and intellectually curious. Whenever there is a potentially stressful scenario, she never complains as she is only focused on resolution and assisting the students, faculty and patients."
Another said "The core values of the school involve humanism, leadership, stewardship, collaboration and reflection. Andrea is an exemplar in these traits. She models a behavior of dignity, integrity and responsibility. At all times she is solicitous to student and faculty needs and is able to perform these duties with a buoyant nature."
A third commenter said "Andrea's ownership of the dispensary details is impressive and she inspires others by her willingness to share her knowledge with fellow staff members and students and do it in an environment which empowers others."
