Dr. A. Thomas Indresano Elected Vice President of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons

Dr. A. Thomas Indresano was elected vice president of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) during the association's 98th annual meeting.

Dr. A. Thomas Indresano was elected vice president of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) during the association's 98th annual meeting.

Dr. A. Thomas Indresano was elected vice president of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) during the association's 98th annual meeting held in Las Vegas, Nev., September 18-23. Indresano had previously held the position as District VI trustee on the Board of Trustees, where he represented members in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

"It is an honor to serve as AAOMS vice president, and I thank my colleagues for the trust they have placed in me," he said.

Indresano is the T. Galt and Lyn DeHaven Atwood Endowed Professor and chair of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Prior to joining the Dugoni School, he served as an assistant professor at the University of Illinois, associate professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Chicago, associate professor at Case Western Reserve University, and professor and chairman at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

In 2005, the AAOMS awarded him the Donald B. Osbon Award for an Outstanding Educator. The award is given annually to a single educator in the U.S. who exemplifies the highest standards in education and patient care as well as cultivates research in oral and maxillofacial surgery. In addition to the AAOMS, Indresano is a fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists, and a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). He spent six years as an examiner for the ABOMS. He is also a past president of the Ohio, Great Lakes, and California Societies of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Indresano earned his doctor of dental medicine degree from Harvard University and received specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery from Vanderbilt University.
