University of the Pacific has launched a new portal offering library services for the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. In addition to providing a variety of medical and dental-specific databases, the new site offers expanded access to general resources and educational research. Mickel Paris, MLIS, the University's new health sciences librarian, in collaboration with library committee members Dr. Ben Zeitlin and Dr. Shika Gupta and other dental school faculty and students, created the new web resource. Features available to students, faculty and staff include:
The Dugoni School's library services were previously available via the California Pacific Medical Center's (CPMC) health sciences library for four decades, and their partnership was invaluable during the transition period. The CPMC library team included Anne Shew, Tilly Roche and Kathleen Kimber.
With the school's move to its new campus in the South of Market district of San Francisco and in alignment with University of the Pacific's 2020 Strategic Plan, the time was right to transition to library services provide by the University. This new portal will better support the dental school's evidence-based approach to dental education.
"We are happy to say that we had a smooth transition and look forward to a new and more flexible information resource able to adapt to our future needs," said Drs. Zeitlin and Gupta in a written statement. "We would like to thank Mickel Paris for facilitating this process and Drs. Lynn Beck, Nader Nadershahi, Richard Fredekind for their support."
