Bay Area golf lovers have an opportunity to tee up for a good cause! The public is invited to participate in the 19th annual Kids in the Klinic Golf Classic, a fundraiser to be held October 17, 2016 at the prestigious Olympic Club in San Francisco. Golfers will have the chance to play this world-famous course and site of the previous U.S. Open tournaments, while supporting oral healthcare for underserved children.

The Golf Classic benefits the Kids in the Klinic Endowment at University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. This important fund focuses on dental care, education and oral health prevention for disadvantaged children throughout Northern California. Money raised at the event will directly support dental care for children in need. Care is provided at the school's Hutto Patterson Pediatric Dentistry Clinic and the Redmond Family Orthodontic Clinic in San Francisco.

Participants will have the opportunity to play on The Olympic Club's Lake Course or Ocean Course. Registration includes lunch, tee prize, golf cart and reception. Numerous sponsorship packages are available for companies, organizations and individuals interested in supporting the event.

"This event just keeps getting bigger and better each year, and this year will be no exception," said Dr. Doug Yarris ‘83, event committee chair and board member on the school's fundraising foundation. "We have some exciting special guests lined up and you'll be in for a great day of fun and festivities at a phenomenal golf venue. The best part is we'll raise money that will impact the lives of many underserved children and families in our community. It doesn't get any better than that!"

Many of the children served by Kids in the Klinic already face challenges of mental or physical disabilities in addition to facing obstacles to oral health care. Through many years of support by Dugoni School donors and friends, the Kids in the Klinic Endowment has raised more than $2 million to make a difference in the lives of children and families.

"Children's oral healthcare is an important unmet need for far too many families in Northern California," added Dr. Nader Nadershahi '94, dean of the Dugoni School. "Tooth decay is the most common chronic illness among school-age children and California's students miss an estimated 874,000 days of school each year due to dental problems. This event raises visibility for this important issue and provides funding to provide care for children who need these services the most. Thank you to everyone who is getting involved to put a smile on the faces of these kids."
