Patient expectations are high, and therefore dental professionals must learn to master the art and science of cosmetic dentistry both in the front and back of the mouth. Dr. Flax will discuss innovations in technology and materials, and the confluence of smile design. These advances have made it possible for dentists and their teams to work in tandem with patients, labs and specialists to create extraordinary results that are predictable, profitable and often affordable for patients. You Will Learn To identify critical factors in smile design that can help you create beautiful and naturally looking smiles To integrate four critical steps to help simplify treatment in your veneer cases To utilize technology to help patients visualize, collaborate and test-drive their new smiles to increase satisfaction and acceptance To understand how laser technology can enhance your cases' aesthetics, biological health, promote healing and improve your bottom line, even by two months or more in complex cases Day 2 — Saturday, June 10                                TMD: The Basics and State-of-the-Art Kevin Mangelson, DMD TMD can affect occlusion, jaw function and bite. In this lecture, Dr. Mangelson will review the basics of TMD anatomy and diagnosis. He will discuss the tools you need to treat straightforward TMD right in your practice. Dr. Mangelson will also present on regenerative TMD treatment and the future of TMD therapy. You Will Learn To identify the anatomy of TMD and common dysfunctions To diagnose and implement simple treatment for common TMD patients To understand the future of TMD treatment with regenerative TMD Five Ways to Avoid Oral Appliance Failure Kevin Mangelson, DMD Dentists play a key role in the management of sleep apnea by fabricating custom-fitted oral appliances to help patients maintain an open airway during sleep. During this lecture, you will learn essential information necessary to effectively treat and manage sleep apnea patients with oral appliance therapy. Dr. Mangelson will provide you with the vital tools needed to increase the success of oral appliance therapy in your practice. You Will Learn To understand the common mistakes that dentists make when treating sleep apnea patients To implement best practices when treating sleep apnea with a mandibular advancement device How to avoid side effects and common problems with oral appliance therapy Who Should Attend This informative program is designed for dentists, specialists and all members of the dental team. Faculty Hugh Flax, DDS, is internationally renowned for his leadership in cosmetic dentistry. An accredited member and past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, he has lectured and authored articles in Europe, Japan, Canada and the United States on lasers, smile design and advanced restorative techniques to enhance the skills of dental teams in providing world-class care for their patients. Dr. Flax practices in Atlanta, Georgia, focusing on functional appearance-related conditions and advanced laser dentistry as well as writing and lecturing on how to help others do the same for their own practices. Kevin Mangelson, DMD, is a graduate of Boise State University and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He has been working with TMJ disorders and dental sleep medicine patients since 2008. During that time, he spent three and a half years in active duty service for the United States Army as a general dentist. CPT Mangelson spent much of his time treating members of our Armed Forces for TMJ disorders and sleep apnea. He lectures throughout the United States and internationally on the topics of TMJ disorders and dental sleep medicine and is a diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.  Travel Information Enjoy Monterey by staying at the Marriott Monterey next to the Monterey Conference Center.
