Dugoni School Faculty Member Edits New Implant Dentistry Textbook

August 20, 2015

Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry faculty member Dr. Len Tolstunov contributed to the first edition of a textbook focused on implant dentistry, Horizontal Alveolar Ridge Augmentation in Implant Dentistry: A Surgical Manual. Tolstunov was the lead editor of the book and many other faculty members from the school's Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department and Department of Periodontics also contributed expertise. In total, approximately 70 contributors from around the world participated in the creation of the book.

This first book, Book I, is designed for those interested in surgical techniques of bone and soft tissue preservation and augmentation of the jaws. According to Tolstunov, it will be of great educational value for senior dental students interested in post-graduate programs (especially Oral Surgery and Periodontics), dental residents and faculty. The second book (Book II) is scheduled to be released in April 2016.

Tolstunov serves as an assistant clinical faculty member at the Dugoni School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has published more than 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has lectured nationally and internationally on bone grafting, ridge-split procedure, and other implant dentistry and oral surgery topics.

Horizontal Alveolar Ridge Augmentation in Implant Dentistry: A Surgical Manual is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Wiley.
