Eve Kurtin served as a Regent from 2015 to 2020.

Dr. Eve M. Kurtin '76, a former Pacific Regent who was known as a financial titan in her professional career, a trusted advisor and a passionate social activist, died recently.

Kurtin served on the Pacific Board of Regents from 2015 to 2020.

“As the sadness lessens over time, I know we will smile each time we remember her,” said Regent Paul Dassenko ‘82. “She shared her talents generously as a Regent, but that should be no surprise as she was generous at her core.”

A graduate of the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy, Kurtin led the Pacific Venture Group, a private equity and venture capital investment firm specializing in the healthcare industry. She was founder and CEO of Physician Venture Management, CEO and president of Kurtin Communications, vice president of American Medical International and a founding member of the RAND Health Board of Advisors.

Kurtin was particularly interested in cutting-edge healthcare technologies and innovations that held the promise of reducing the cost of patient care. She was a featured panelist for the Women of Influence Speaker Series for the National Association of Women Business Owners-LA and actively supported the Jewish Graduate Student Initiative.

Kurtin served as co-chair of KOREH LA, the literacy program of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. In her role as director for the Union for Reform Judaism, she attended a meeting at the White House with Chief of Staff Jack Lew to discuss a range of topics, including international relations with Israel and the Affordable Care Act.

She is survived by her spouse Michael Steinberg, their two children (Beth and Drew) and three grandchildren.

The family requests that donations in Eve’s honor be made to: Stephen Wise Temple (Eve Kurtin-Steinberg Fund), Partners in Care Foundation, American Israel Education Foundation, Inc. (AIEF).

All are welcome to join the family in person or online for a Celebration of Eve Kurtin’s Life and Shiva Service on Sunday, May 8, 4 p.m., Stephen Wise Temple Sanctuary, Los Angeles.
